
The BC Agriculture Council and buyBC
The BC Agriculture Council is a not for profit agency founded in 1997. The council is an umbrella organization for provincial farm organizations that represent primary agriculture producers. Its purpose is to enhance, promote and assure the long-term economic viability of British Columbia’s agriculture industry.
The BC Agriculture Council believes that B.C.’s agri-food industry is vital to the our provinces financial stability and independence. The council believes that the
buyBC program is an important program in maintaining a healthy agri-food industry in the province and is committed to working with the industry to the benefit of all participants.
The buyBC Board of Advisors
The BC Agriculture Council will work with a board of industry advisors to establish the new program’s governance model, priorities and oversee its implementation. The board will be composed of a cross section of representatives from the agri-food industry and include representatives of the following sectors:
- Processors
- Producers
- Retailers
- Restaurant and Food Services
- The Canadian Association of Food Banks, B.C. Chapter
